Young Carer Support Service
What is this service?
A Young Carer is a child or young person under 18 who takes on practical or emotional caring responsibilities for a family member with a disability, illness, mental health condition, or substance misuse issue. This may include household tasks, cooking, managing appointments, medication management, personal care (e.g. washing, dressing), or providing significant emotional support. Their responsibilities go beyond what is typically expected for their age and impact their wellbeing, education, or social life. Being a sibling of someone with additional needs does not necessarily make a young person a Young Carer unless they have specific caring responsibilities that have an impact on their life.
We provide support for Young Carers in Mid Essex (Braintree, Maldon, Chelmsford districts), West Essex (Harlow, Uttlesford, Epping districts) or Northeast Essex (Colchester or Tendring districts).
We also run Young Carer Clubs
